Lead the People Strategy Behind a High-Performance Manufacturing Operation

A leading advanced manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to lead employee relations, recruitment and day-to-day HR operations at its Rochester facility.

This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership position for an HR professional who enjoys working directly with employees, supervisors and senior leaders. You will help maintain a fair, consistent and compliant workplace while strengthening recruitment, employee engagement, leadership capability and operational performance.

You will also manage and develop a team of HR Generalists and Administrators while helping shape the policies, processes and systems that support the wider organization.

What You’ll Be Doing

Employee Relations and Leadership Support

  • Serve as a trusted HR resource to employees, supervisors and senior leaders

  • Provide guidance on performance management, workplace conduct and employee concerns

  • Lead employee-relations investigations and recommend appropriate corrective actions

  • Counsel employees and managers on workplace conflict and performance issues

  • Support disciplinary processes, including recommendations involving termination

  • Promote fairness, consistency, confidentiality and professionalism across all HR decisions

  • Build strong relationships with employees at every level of the organization

Recruitment and Workforce Support

  • Lead full-cycle recruitment for site-based positions

  • Interview candidates and make hiring recommendations

  • Prepare and present employment offers

  • Coordinate onboarding and new-employee orientation

  • Work with external recruitment partners and advertising platforms when required

  • Support managers in making effective and consistent hiring decisions

  • Strengthen recruitment processes to improve quality, efficiency and candidate experience

HR Team Management

  • Manage, coach and develop HR Generalists and HR Administrators

  • Establish departmental goals, priorities and performance expectations

  • Provide ongoing mentoring and professional-development support

  • Ensure the HR team delivers responsive and consistent service

  • Promote accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement

Compliance, Policy and Employee Programs

  • Administer HR policies, procedures and employee programs

  • Support the development and maintenance of the employee handbook

  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state employment regulations

  • Prepare responses for unemployment claims, hearings and other employment-related matters

  • Partner with internal legal counsel on sensitive or business-critical cases

  • Conduct HR audits involving attendance, records, workplace practices and computer usage

  • Maintain accurate, confidential and compliant HR documentation

  • Deliver HR information and updates during employee and leadership meetings

Training and Continuous Improvement

  • Coordinate and monitor employee and management training

  • Support training covering interviewing, workplace conduct, harassment prevention and company policies

  • Conduct regular facility tours to maintain a visible HR presence

  • Identify opportunities to improve HR systems, processes and service delivery

  • Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to implement operational improvements

  • Use HR data and reporting to identify trends, risks and workforce priorities

What You’ll Bring

Essential Requirements

  • At least six years of progressive Human Resources experience

  • Strong, hands-on experience in both employee relations and recruitment

  • Demonstrated experience leading and managing employees

  • Experience coaching and mentoring professionals at different organizational levels

  • Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws

  • Experience handling investigations, performance concerns and disciplinary actions

  • Strong policy-development and HR compliance experience

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and spreadsheet-based reporting

  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

  • Strong organization, prioritization and multitasking capabilities

  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment when handling sensitive matters

  • Proven problem-solving, negotiation and conflict-resolution skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related discipline

  • Equivalent education and substantial progressive HR experience may also be considered

  • Previous HR leadership experience within manufacturing, electronics, industrial operations or another complex site-based environment

  • Experience managing HR Generalists, Coordinators or Administrators

  • Experience working with unemployment claims, legal hearings or internal employment counsel

  • Familiarity with continuous-improvement tools and methodologies

  • Experience supporting multicultural or geographically dispersed teams

  • Working knowledge of WebEx or comparable virtual-meeting platforms

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be a visible, approachable and action-oriented HR leader who is equally comfortable advising senior management and supporting employees on the manufacturing floor.

You should be able to balance empathy with sound judgment, protect confidentiality and make fair, defensible decisions. You will also need the confidence to challenge appropriately, influence cross-functional leaders and take ownership of difficult employee-relations matters.

This position is particularly well suited to someone who combines strong operational HR knowledge with a genuine passion for developing people, improving processes and building a positive workplace culture.

Compensation and Benefits

The anticipated base salary for this position is $90,000–$110,000 per year.

Individual compensation will be determined by several factors, including relevant skills, qualifications, certifications, experience, training, internal compensation data and wider business requirements.

An established manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Senior Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist to take ownership of site-wide EHS performance at a large-scale 24/7 production facility in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

The Opportunity

This role carries a strong emphasis on Health & Safety leadership, while also maintaining responsibility for critical environmental compliance programs.

The successful candidate will become the site's primary EHS resource, helping drive safety performance, regulatory compliance, employee engagement, incident prevention, environmental stewardship, and continuous improvement initiatives across the facility.

This position reports directly to the Plant Manager while working closely with Corporate Safety and Environmental leadership teams.

What You'll Be Doing

Health & Safety Leadership

  • Lead site-wide safety initiatives and promote a proactive safety culture

  • Serve as the facility's primary OSHA compliance resource

  • Conduct incident, injury, near-miss, property damage, and environmental investigations

  • Perform root cause analysis utilizing methodologies such as RCCA and 5-Whys

  • Develop and implement corrective and preventative actions

  • Conduct risk assessments, hazard evaluations, audits, and safety inspections

  • Drive continuous improvement of safety systems, processes, and performance metrics

  • Coordinate and lead Safety Committee activities

  • Develop and execute site safety action plans

  • Facilitate EHS training programs for employees at all levels

  • Support workers' compensation case management activities

  • Maintain OSHA recordkeeping and compliance documentation

  • Support site projects by evaluating safety impacts and recommending mitigation strategies

Environmental Compliance & Sustainability

  • Support compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations

  • Assist with management of the facility's Title V environmental obligations

  • Oversee stormwater compliance programs and environmental monitoring activities

  • Ensure proper management and disposal of solid, universal, and hazardous waste streams

  • Drive waste reduction, reuse, and recycling initiatives

  • Support environmental permitting activities and regulatory reporting

  • Assist with air quality compliance and permit management

  • Ensure wastewater and discharge activities remain compliant with operating permits

  • Maintain environmental records and compliance documentation

Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement

  • Partner with operations teams to identify opportunities for safety and process improvements

  • Support Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, and cost reduction initiatives

  • Drive accountability and follow-through on EHS action items

  • Prepare for and support corporate audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews

  • Monitor, analyze, and communicate EHS performance metrics

  • 24/7 manufacturing operation

  • Non-union facility

  • Production operations running 12-hour shifts

  • Warehouse operations running 8-hour shifts

  • One direct report (EHS Technician)

  • Active partnership with Corporate Safety and Environmental leadership

The facility has demonstrated strong recent safety performance, recording zero recordable incidents year-to-date, and is committed to continuing that momentum through strong leadership and employee engagement.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Engineering, or a related discipline

  • Minimum of 7 years of EHS experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment

  • Prior formal safety training such as OSHA 30-Hour or equivalent

  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations

  • Experience leading investigations and performing root cause analysis

  • Excellent communication, presentation, training, and organizational skills

  • Strong Microsoft Office proficiency

  • Ability to work independently and effectively influence stakeholders across the organization

Additionally, Candidates Should Meet One or More of the Following:

  • Served as the lead EHS professional for a manufacturing facility for at least three years

  • Recognized subject matter expert in an EHS discipline such as machine safeguarding, fall protection, process safety, or similar areas

  • Hold a professional EHS certification including:

    • CSP

    • CIH

    • OHST

    • SMS

    • CHMM

    • CEM

    • Or equivalent credentials

Preferred Experience

  • Title V environmental compliance

  • Stormwater management programs

  • Waste management and environmental permitting

  • Corporate audit preparation and regulatory inspections

  • Manufacturing environments with significant safety and compliance requirements

  • Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and continuous improvement programs

Physical Requirements

This position requires regular presence within an active manufacturing environment and the ability to:

  • Walk extensively throughout the facility

  • Climb ladders and stairs

  • Enter confined spaces when required

  • Work in varying temperatures and production environments

  • Wear respiratory protection if necessary

  • Participate in emergency response activities as needed

  • Be available for occasional after-hours support and emergency response situations

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $96,000 – $132,000
