🧭 Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Provide hands-on support for routine maintenance, repair, and calibration of automation equipment, PLCs, and control systems.

  • Diagnose complex electrical, mechanical, and programming issues quickly to reduce downtime and boost productivity.

  • Collaborate with electricians and cross-functional teams to maintain system reliability and performance.

System Optimization

  • Analyze production data and identify opportunities to optimize automation and control strategies.

  • Recommend and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency, quality, and safety.

  • Contribute to projects that modernize and standardize automation systems across production lines.

Programming & Configuration

  • Develop, program, and troubleshoot PLC and HMI systems, primarily Allen-Bradley platforms.

  • Configure and maintain VFDs, SCADA systems, and motor control systems.

  • Ensure system integration aligns with company standards, cybersecurity policies, and operational requirements.

Preventive Maintenance & Documentation

  • Execute preventive maintenance programs to prevent unplanned equipment failures.

  • Maintain accurate documentation for all maintenance activities, modifications, and performance reports.

  • Support audits and reporting with detailed technical insights and system data.

Leadership & Training

  • Provide training and mentorship to operators, technicians, and electricians on control systems.

  • Promote safety, knowledge sharing, and adherence to maintenance best practices.

🎓 Education & Experience

Required

✅ Minimum 5 years of experience in automation, controls, or electrical maintenance within manufacturing.
✅ Strong hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs (programming, troubleshooting, maintenance).
✅ Solid understanding of HMI, SCADA, VFDs, and industrial networks.
✅ Experience with high-speed packaging or food processing environments.
✅ Proven ability to analyze and solve complex control system problems.

Preferred

⭐ Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Technology, or related field.
⭐ Familiarity with SAP – PM, work orders, and asset management.
⭐ Experience using Putty and Cisco Network Switches.
⭐ Knowledge of basic electronics and electrical theory.

Primary Purpose of Position:

 

Assist & lead to ensure equipment complies with all safety, environmental & other regulatory compliances. Track engineering expense & capital budgeting compliance. We are hiring immediately a full-time Technician II- High Voltage Electrical, a role that is critical in making sure our customers get the electricity, heating and cooling they need.

What you’ll do:

· You’ll be based out of our Baltimore service center

· You’ll have an opportunity to work overtime and weekends, and potential for travel

· Perform service and repair HV electrical distribution equipment, with a primary focus on the testing and commissioning of HV electrical specialty equipment.

· You will work on both low, medium and high voltage switchgear including breakers with relays, motor-starters, VFD’s, load break switches and transformers

· Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring and equipment, using standard testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, meggers, Hipot and TTR test equipment as well as observing functions to ensure compatibility and safety of components

· You will either work on your own or teamed up with a technician

We’re experts, which means you’ll have the following skills and experience:

· High School diploma/GED or equivalent

· 8+ years' experience in the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical switchgear, this includes medium and high voltage power distribution gear

· Advanced third-party certifications within the companies Training Plan (AVO) or equivalent MV training program (company provided training).

· Understanding of control systems and how to troubleshoot relays, switches, timers, and solid-state components.

· Understanding of protection relays and meters

· Experience with calculating nominal and effective tonnage and/or kW requirements, along with mechanical background, reading and understanding schematics

· Ability to move or lift objects, typically less than 50 lbs.
