A global leader in adhesive technologies and functional coatings is seeking a Lead Application Engineer – Flexible Packaging to provide technical leadership and customer-facing engineering support across the flexible packaging market.

This role serves as a trusted technical advisor supporting laminating adhesives and coatings technologies, helping customers optimize manufacturing processes, troubleshoot issues, implement new technologies, and drive innovation initiatives.

🔧 Key Responsibilities

Technical Customer Support

• Provide technical recommendations, troubleshooting, and application support for customers

• Conduct onsite technical visits including:

• Product demonstrations

• Audits

• Process troubleshooting

• Equipment optimization

• Support complaint investigations and root cause analysis

• Document activities and findings within CRM and laboratory systems

Flexible Packaging & Coating Expertise

• Support laminating adhesives and coatings applications

• Provide expertise in:

• Assist customers in improving adhesive-related manufacturing processes

Project Management & Innovation

• Lead customer-focused technical projects from concept through implementation

Role Overview

This is a customer-facing technical services role supporting flexographic and gravure packaging accounts in a highly competitive inks market. Working closely with Sales, the Technical Account Manager helps stabilize accounts, retain customers, and resolve complex technical issues.

This is not a quota-carrying role—success is measured by customer satisfaction, technical excellence, and account stability.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead technical support for wide web flexographic and gravure printing customers

• Provide on-site troubleshooting, ink optimization, and performance evaluations

• Plan, coordinate, and execute press trials, product introductions, and technical audits

• Partner with Sales, R&D, Manufacturing, Regulatory, and Technical teams to deliver tailored solutions

• Develop and execute technical service strategies that support customer retention and growth

• Act as the primary technical point of contact for key customer stakeholders

• Mentor and support field technical representatives when applicable

• Maintain detailed service documentation, reports, and communication logs

• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards, including VOC handling and emissions

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Printing Technology, or a related field preferred

• 5+ years in a technical role supporting flexographic and/or gravure printing

• Hands-on experience with water-based and solvent-based inks for flexible packaging

• Strong understanding of:

• Skilled in color matching, defect analysis, and print troubleshooting
