Role Overview
This is a customer-facing technical services role supporting flexographic and gravure packaging accounts in a highly competitive inks market. Working closely with Sales, the Technical Account Manager helps stabilize accounts, retain customers, and resolve complex technical issues.
This is not a quota-carrying role—success is measured by customer satisfaction, technical excellence, and account stability.
Key Responsibilities
Lead technical support for wide web flexographic and gravure printing customers
Provide on-site troubleshooting, ink optimization, and performance evaluations
Plan, coordinate, and execute press trials, product introductions, and technical audits
Partner with Sales, R&D, Manufacturing, Regulatory, and Technical teams to deliver tailored solutions
Develop and execute technical service strategies that support customer retention and growth
Act as the primary technical point of contact for key customer stakeholders
Mentor and support field technical representatives when applicable
Maintain detailed service documentation, reports, and communication logs
Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards, including VOC handling and emissions
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Printing Technology, or a related field preferred
(Equivalent experience considered)5+ years in a technical role supporting flexographic and/or gravure printing
Hands-on experience with water-based and solvent-based inks for flexible packaging
Strong understanding of:
Pressroom operations
Ink/substrate interactions
Drying systems and surface treatments
Proven ability to independently manage customer-facing technical projects
Skilled in color matching, defect analysis, and print troubleshooting
Strong communication skills with a customer-first mindset
Ability to travel occasionally (up to 25%)
Preferred Skills
Experience with color management systems (e.g., X-Rite)
Understanding of lamination, coating, and post-print converting processes
Familiarity with VOC compliance, safety protocols, and environmental regulations
Background in inks or specialty chemicals is a plus

Compensation & Benefits
💰 Base Salary: $98,000 – $125,000
