Overview
A leading electric utility cooperative is seeking a Plant Engineer to support operations at a large-scale power generation facility near Center, North Dakota. This position offers an excellent opportunity for both recent engineering graduates and experienced engineers to work on critical infrastructure projects that support reliable energy production.
The Plant Engineer will provide technical support for plant operations, maintenance, capital projects, equipment upgrades, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, efficiency, and safety.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Project Support
Coordinate preparation of construction drawings and equipment specifications.
Design and oversee installation of new and replacement plant equipment.
Support capital improvement and O&M projects from planning through execution.
Work with contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
Operations & Maintenance Support
Troubleshoot plant systems and equipment issues alongside operations and maintenance teams.
Analyze operational data and recommend process improvements.
Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reliability, and availability.
Support implementation of new technologies and engineering best practices.
Safety & Compliance
Ensure engineering activities are performed safely and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Monitor work activities and promote a strong safety culture.
Assist with maintaining engineering records, drawings, and documentation.
Technical Leadership
Identify operational and technical training needs.
Provide engineering support across multiple departments.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize plant performance.
Required Qualifications
Education
Bachelorβs Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
Other related engineering disciplines may be considered.
Experience
Open to entry-level engineers and experienced professionals.
Industrial engineering experience preferred but not required.
Experience with rotating or fixed equipment is a plus.
Power generation or utility experience is highly desirable.
