Overview
A leading financial-services organization is seeking a Senior Technical Lead, Architecture – Enterprise Risk Delivery to provide architectural leadership across a portfolio of enterprise-risk technology initiatives.
This Director-level individual-contributor role will design and govern enterprise-scale technology solutions supporting Financial Risk, Non-Financial Risk, Financial Crimes and Compliance. The successful candidate will partner with engineering, data, product, security and business stakeholders to drive enterprise modernization, cloud transformation and Generative AI adoption.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Solution Architecture
• Design secure, scalable enterprise solution architectures.
• Define architectural blueprints and implementation roadmaps.
• Establish architecture standards, design patterns and best practices.
• Ensure long-term scalability, maintainability and resilience.
• Lead architecture reviews and complex technical decisions.
• Balance innovation, delivery speed and technical debt.
Enterprise Risk Technology
• Deliver technology solutions supporting financial risk, non-financial risk, financial crimes and regulatory compliance.
• Enable enterprise data integration and risk analytics.
• Support regulatory obligations through modern technology platforms.
• Align risk solutions with enterprise architecture, security and data standards.
Cloud and Modern Engineering
• Architect cloud-native enterprise solutions.
• Drive modernization across distributed systems.
• Lead API-first and microservices-based architecture strategies.
• Design integration patterns and micro-frontend solutions.
• Apply twelve-factor application-design principles.
• Support enterprise AI, Generative AI and AI-enabled solution initiatives.
• Guide use of AWS, Azure or GCP, Kubernetes, Kafka and modern engineering platforms.
• Promote CI/CD, DevOps, Agile delivery and enterprise platform engineering.
Technical Leadership and Collaboration
• Provide technical leadership across engineering, architecture and product teams.
• Mentor engineers and influence technical direction without formal line-management authority.
• Translate complex business requirements into practical technical solutions.
• Collaborate with enterprise architecture, security, data and engineering organizations.
• Influence executives through clear technical communication.
• Evaluate emerging technologies against strategic goals.
• Drive enterprise transformation while remaining hands-on with architectural decisions.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline.
• At least 10 years of hands-on software-engineering experience.
• At least eight years in architecture or senior technical leadership.
• Extensive experience leading large-scale enterprise architecture initiatives.
• Enterprise solution architecture, cloud architecture, microservices, API architecture and integration expertise.
• Experience designing cloud-native architectures using AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Strong experience with Kubernetes, Kafka, Java, Python and modern distributed systems.
• Experience with Angular, micro frontends and twelve-factor application design.
• Knowledge of CI/CD, DevOps, Agile delivery and enterprise platform engineering.
• Experience implementing or architecting Generative AI or AI-enabled solutions.
• Experience within a highly regulated industry such as financial services, banking, mortgage or healthcare.
• Strong architecture-governance, executive-communication and cross-functional leadership skills.
• Ability to work primarily onsite in McLean, Virginia or Plano/Dallas, Texas.
• Current authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree.
• Mortgage or housing-finance experience.
• AWS Solutions Architect Professional or equivalent cloud certification.
