Overview
A leading healthcare system is seeking a Manager of ED & Observation Case Management to oversee daily operations for the Emergency Department and Observation Case Management program.
This leadership role is responsible for care facilitation, utilization management, discharge planning, performance improvement, and team leadership, ensuring high-quality patient outcomes while optimizing hospital resources and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Case Management Leadership
Oversee daily operations of the ED and Observation Case Management team.
Lead utilization management, discharge planning, and care coordination activities.
Support quality improvement initiatives and performance metrics.
Collaborate with physicians, nursing, and interdisciplinary care teams.
Operational Management
Assist with department staffing, performance management, and professional development.
Monitor financial and quality outcomes using performance data.
Ensure compliance with payer requirements, regulatory standards, and organizational policies.
Drive process improvements and operational efficiency.
Quality & Patient Care
Coordinate safe, timely patient transitions and discharge planning.
Promote evidence-based case management practices.
Foster collaboration across hospital departments and community resources.
Lead initiatives to improve patient experience and clinical outcomes.
Required Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) or Social Work (BSW) required.
Master's Degree preferred.
Licensure & Certification
✔ Current Texas RN License OR
✔ Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) (LCSW preferred)
✔ Case Manager Certification (Required)

✔ 5+ years of experience in:
Utilization Management
Case Management
Discharge Planning
Cost/Quality Management
✔ 3+ years of hospital-based nursing or social work experience.
✔ 3+ years of leadership or management experience.
Preferred Qualifications
LCSW designation.
Experience leading hospital-based case management teams.
Strong knowledge of managed care and payer requirements.
Performance improvement and quality management experience.
Proven ability to collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams.
