The Opportunity
A senior leadership opportunity to define and scale the connectivity technology that links machines, devices, people and systems across complex industrial sites. This Director will shape a global portfolio spanning private 5G and LTE, Wi-Fi, satellite communications, connected equipment, IoT and edge computing, turning technical capability into reliable customer outcomes.
You will own the global strategy, investment priorities and roadmap for connected-site solutions used in construction, mining, manufacturing and remote operations. Working across technology, product, engineering, commercial and business teams, you will ensure solutions are secure, scalable and capable of supporting autonomous equipment, real-time monitoring, digital services and data-led decision making.
What You Will Do
Strategy and Portfolio Leadership
Own the global site-connectivity strategy and portfolio, including investment priorities, project selection and long-term roadmaps.
Define how machines, devices, systems and people connect and exchange information across customer sites.
Identify emerging technologies, market developments and partnership opportunities that can improve customer operations and business growth.
Decide which capabilities should be developed internally, standardised, expanded or delivered with external technology partners.
Connectivity and Technology Leadership
Set the integrated approach for networks, connected equipment, software platforms, cloud services and business systems at customer sites.
Guide the adoption and deployment of private LTE and 5G, Wi-Fi, satellite communications, IoT, connected equipment and edge computing.
Ensure solutions are reliable, secure, interoperable and scalable across different operating environments.
Provide credible technical leadership, challenge assumptions and guide highly experienced technical specialists.
Customer and Market Leadership
Develop a deep understanding of connectivity challenges across large, remote and operationally complex sites.
Translate customer needs into practical solutions that improve reliability, automation, monitoring and operational performance.
Partner with product and commercial teams to bring solutions to market and support adoption.
Create repeatable solutions that can scale across customers, sites and geographies.
Execution and Business Performance
Establish clear governance for priorities, investments, ownership, risk and expected business outcomes.
Lead multiple complex global programs through other leaders and move solutions beyond pilots into repeatable deployment.
Measure performance through customer adoption, reliability, scalability, cost effectiveness and customer value.
Use operational data, deployment learning and customer feedback to drive continuous improvement.
People and Ecosystem Leadership
Lead and develop a global organisation of managers, senior technical leaders and subject-matter experts.
Build a culture of accountability, innovation and cross-functional collaboration.
Develop strategic relationships with technology providers and delivery partners.
Create the talent, operating model and leadership depth required for continued global growth.
Required Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technology, Business or a related discipline.
Significant senior leadership experience across connectivity, technology infrastructure, connected products or digital solutions in complex environments.
At least ten years of experience across several connectivity technologies, such as private 5G or LTE, Wi-Fi, satellite, IoT, connected equipment or edge computing.
Experience deploying technology into physical operating environments where connectivity, reliability and real-time information are critical.
Proven success leading multiple large technology programs or portfolios, including deployments across multiple sites, customers or locations.
Ability to connect technology decisions to customer outcomes, operational improvement, commercial considerations and measurable business value.
Experience leading large organisations containing managers, senior technical leaders and specialised technical professionals.
Strong executive communication and stakeholder leadership across technology, engineering, product, commercial and business functions.
Preferred Experience
Advanced degree such as an MBA or MS.
Background in construction, mining, heavy equipment, manufacturing, energy, utilities, transportation or telecommunications.
Direct experience with autonomous equipment, connected construction or mining operations, or highly automated industrial environments.
Strong knowledge of edge computing and the processing and use of machine data at customer sites.
Experience scaling integrated connectivity solutions across multiple customers, countries, remote locations or operating sites.
Familiarity with cybersecurity requirements for connected equipment and infrastructure.
Program management or Agile certification.
The Ideal Candidate
You are a leader of leaders with strong commercial judgement and enough technical depth to guide experts across networking, connected equipment and edge technology. You understand the realities of deploying critical connectivity into construction, mining, heavy-equipment or similarly demanding environments, and you have successfully taken complex solutions from strategy through global deployment and ongoing operation.
Benefits and Career Opportunity
This role offers a full benefits package, bonus eligibility, long-term incentive eligibility, domestic relocation support and the opportunity to shape a strategically important global connectivity portfolio.
Application
Please submit your CV with a summary of your experience leading advanced connectivity solutions, the industrial or remote environments in which you have deployed them, the scale of teams and portfolios you have led, your current location, compensation expectations and availability.
