The Opportunity

An early-stage technology business is seeking an Applied AI Engineer to own the infrastructure behind production autonomous agents. You will build systems that allow agents to execute reliably, retain long-term context, recognise failure and involve a human when needed.

This is a hands-on role for an engineer who has moved beyond demonstrations and successfully shipped agentic systems for real users. You will influence how agents plan, remember, recover and improve, with the opportunity to deploy meaningful work from your first week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain the core infrastructure that enables AI agents to execute reliably across repeated iterations.

  • Design memory systems that retain months of client context from complex operational data.

  • Create evaluation harnesses that teams can trust when deciding what reaches production.

  • Own the full engineering loop: build, measure, test, break, repair and improve.

  • Deploy agent systems for real customers and iterate using production feedback.

  • Develop orchestration, recovery and human-in-the-loop mechanisms.

  • Work across infrastructure, customer collaboration and broader technical priorities as the team grows.

Required Experience

  • Evidence of shipping LLM agents that operated unattended in production for real users.

  • Strong Python engineering skills.

  • Hands-on experience with agent orchestration and supporting infrastructure.

  • Experience building evaluation harnesses used to make release decisions.

  • Practical knowledge of retrieval and long-term memory systems using real, messy operational data.

  • Understanding of production reliability, observability, failure recovery and human escalation.

  • A strong bias for execution, ownership and turning ambitious ideas into working systems.

Desirable Experience

  • Three or more years of relevant engineering experience.

  • Experience building agent tooling publicly or founding an early-stage product or company.

  • Exposure to production autonomous-agent systems and AI infrastructure at scale.

Compensation and Support

The position offers a base salary of $150,000–$250,000, meaningful early-stage equity, relocation support and visa sponsorship.

Apply

Please submit your CV with examples of production agent systems you have built, including memory architecture, failure recovery and the evaluation methods used to decide what shipped. Please also include your current location, availability, compensation expectations and visa requirements.
