Key Responsibilities

  • Lead troubleshooting and maintenance of PLCs, HMIs, vision systems, and robotics.

  • Develop and modify Allen-Bradley PLC programs (RSLogix5, RSLogix5000).

  • Configure and program PowerFlex variable frequency drives.

  • Maintain Ethernet, DeviceNet, and ControlNet communication networks.

  • Ensure compliance with NEC, OSHA, ANSI, and ISA standards.

  • Support plant safety, food safety, and quality initiatives through controls engineering.

  • Interpret electrical schematics and blueprints for effective troubleshooting.

  • Train maintenance and production teams on controls systems.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to implement new systems and improve existing operations.

  • Provide support for plant or line start-ups; experience with SCADA preferred.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field

  • 5+ years of experience in automation/controls within a production facility

  • Hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley MicroLogix and ControlLogix

  • Strong working knowledge of Fanuc, Wonderware, and related platforms

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Experience managing or mentoring small technical teams

Preferred:

  • Background in food production or manufacturing

  • SCADA experience highly desired

  • Strong understanding of safety, food safety, and maintenance standards

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced SCADA Engineer with specialized expertise in PowerOn Reliance and C++ programming to design, implement, and maintain Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. This role requires a deep understanding of SCADA systems and their integration with PLCs, RTUs, and IEDs. The ideal candidate will excel in system design, customization, cybersecurity, and troubleshooting, ensuring optimal functionality and security for SCADA applications within the power and utility sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • SCADA System Design and Development: Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to analyze requirements, design, configure, and implement SCADA systems using PowerOn Reliance. Develop custom modules and components using C++ for enhanced functionality.

  • System Integration: Integrate SCADA systems with field devices, including PLCs, RTUs, and IEDs, using advanced C++ programming techniques. Conduct rigorous testing to verify functionality and performance.

  • PowerOn Reliance Proficiency: Configure and customize PowerOn Reliance applications, develop HMI screens, and design complex logic and control algorithms to meet operational needs.

  • Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Identify and resolve technical issues, perform routine system upgrades, and apply software patches to ensure consistent system performance.

  • Cybersecurity: Implement security measures to safeguard SCADA systems against cyber threats. Apply secure coding practices in C++ and conduct risk assessments to ensure data confidentiality and system integrity.

  • Documentation and Training: Create technical documentation, including system architecture and user manuals. Train end-users to operate and maintain SCADA systems effectively.

  • Project Management: Collaborate with project managers to develop plans, timelines, and budgets. Monitor project progress, address risks, and ensure successful project delivery.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Required:

    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

    • 5+ years of experience as a SCADA Engineer, with expertise in PowerOn Reliance and C++.

    • Strong knowledge of SCADA concepts, protocols (DNP3, Modbus), and communication technologies.

    • Proficiency in developing HMI screens and designing complex logic and control algorithms.

    • Experience integrating SCADA systems with field devices using C++ programming techniques.

    • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices for SCADA systems and secure coding in C++.

    • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and troubleshooting skills.

  • Preferred:

    • Relevant certifications in SCADA or related technologies.

    • Familiarity with project management principles and experience in cross-functional team collaboration.
