Position Overview
A food and beverage manufacturer is seeking an experienced Environmental, Health & Safety Manager to lead environmental, occupational-health and workplace-safety programs in Arkansas City, Kansas.
This senior, hands-on role will shape EHS strategy, maintain compliance, reduce operational risk and promote a proactive culture of safety and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop, implement and maintain EHS policies, procedures and management systems.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA and federal, state and local requirements.
• Support alignment with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
• Lead EHS audits, inspections, risk assessments and continuous improvement.
• Serve as subject-matter expert for workplace safety, environmental compliance, hazardous waste, industrial hygiene and ergonomics.
• Lead incident and near-miss investigations, root-cause analysis and corrective-action follow-up.
• Develop and deliver training for employees, supervisors and leaders.
• Monitor safety and environmental metrics, trends and KPIs.
• Maintain and test emergency-preparedness and response plans.
• Partner with Operations, HR, Engineering and Legal to embed EHS into daily practice.
• Support sustainability programs, environmental reporting and climate-related disclosures.
• Supervise or mentor EHS staff and site coordinators where applicable.
• Recommend practical improvements that reduce risk and strengthen engagement.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree; Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering or a related field strongly preferred.
• At least eight years of progressive EHS experience.
• At least three years of EHS leadership experience.
• Direct EHS experience within food and beverage manufacturing.
• Current professional certification such as CSP, CIH, CHMM or comparable credential.
• Strong OSHA, EPA, NFPA and environmental/workplace-safety knowledge.
• Familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
• Experience leading audits, inspections, investigations and corrective-action programs.
• Knowledge of hazardous-waste management, industrial hygiene and ergonomics.
• Strong leadership, communication, analytical and change-management skills.
• Ability to work onsite in Arkansas City.
• Current U.S. work authorization without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree.
• Experience with Enablon, Intelex or VelocityEHS.
• Sustainability and climate-disclosure experience.
• Behavior-based safety or employee-engagement program experience.
