Job Description

Under the direction of the Team Lead of Network Engineering and within established hospital, clinic, and department policies and procedures, support network activities in a multi-vendor, multi-platform computer environment. Responsible for the daily technical support of the Institution-wide computer networks, and for the installation, maintenance, and tuning of network software and hardware. Provides technical assistance to the Network Architect for the installation of new technologies as well as providing next level support to Network Engineers. Consults with the Team Lead of Network Engineering on specific matters requiring clarification, interpretation, or exception to standard policies and procedures

 

Installs, maintains and evaluates network systems and communications. Configures various network devices and services. Configure and design data and VoIP networks. Troubleshoots the complex network issues involving various factors. Conducts network architecture design, feasibility and cost studies. Responsible for the daily technical support of the Institution-wide computer networks. Proactively researches and locates necessary tools and processes to identify troublesome trends as they develop. Ensures a stable performance environment for the enterprise systems. Participates in complex aspects of various IT projects intended to continually improve/upgrade the enterprise network infrastructure. Provides next level support to Network Engineers 1 and 2. Maintain and or update network equipment images and configurations. Data center and cloud design, implementation, and support. Work closely with Information Security team on creating and maintaining firewall policy including Cloudflare DDoS protection rules. Participates in the development of standards of practice to include: physical layout of infrastructure wiring, networking products and protocol compliance.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:

·        Understanding of distributed systems architecture and knowledge of multiple technical disciplines. Technical knowledge and aptitude in the areas of networks, network topologies, PC workstations (configuration and connectivity), network file servers, applicable software, and troubleshooting techniques.

·        Ability to solve network infrastructure issues and to manage the performance and capacity of a LAN/WAN/WLAN on campus and Data Center environment.

·        Design, plan, implement, manage and troubleshoot cloud network infrastructure and backbone connection over Direct Connect (AWS), Express Route (Azure).

·        Ability to effectively adapt to rapidly changing technology and apply it to business needs.

·        Ability to conduct and prepare feasibility studies; develop network proposals, including estimates for costs, time, and resources; prepare statistical reports; complete cost/benefit analyses; Strong customer service and communications skills.

·        Good judgment and analytical skills; strong follow-up and organizational skills.

·        Research and analyze emerging technologies.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent combination of formal education and experience).

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

Professional certifications such as Cisco CCNP is required. Cisco CCIE is desirable.

 

EXPERIENCE:

·        Minimum of 8 or more years of related experience.

·        Minimum 1-2 years of experience working with cloud-based network technology

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

·        Data Network Hardware: Cisco routers (2800 - 7600), switches (3750 - 6500). Cisco Nexus 9000 Series Data center switches – spine/leaf architecture. F5 Load balancers, Netscalers, Aruba Access Points, Palo Alto Firewalls and Cisco ASA’s.

·        Cloud network infrastructure – AWS, Azure, GCP

·        Protocols: TCP/IP, TACAC’s, Radius, OSPF, BGP4, SNMP, VXLAN, Multicast, Anycast, SIP and Video suites of protocols, QOS, Cloud AWS/Azure experience,

·        WAN/LAN/WLAN management: Solarwinds, Netflow, Airwave, and Aruba Clearpass

·        Join on-call rotation for 24X7 support

·        Operating Systems: Microsoft Windows 10, 2008, 2016, 2019, Linux, AIX.
